    1. Internet of things and big data analysis

    Summary:

    The Internet of things (IoT) provides applications of integration of ubiquitous networks through intelligent perception, recognition and pervasive computing. By applying the powerful technology of Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, the potential and hidden values of large-scale data can be extracted, analyzed and predicted to impact on a wide range of fields, such as Web data analysis, financial and economical informatics, bioinformatics, computer vision, e-commerce, etc.

    Chairs: 

    Xuesong Qiu, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China    Xuesong Qiu received the Ph.D. degree from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2000. He is currently a Professor and the Ph.D. Supervisor. He has published more than 100 SCI/EI index papers. Aside this, He has received 13 national and provincial scientific and technical awards, including the national scientific and technical awards (second-class) twice.

     

    Yang Yang, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China                Yang Yang is currently an associate Professor and the master's Supervisor of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Her research interests include wireless networking, Internet of things, big data analysis and predicting, etc. She has published more than 30 SCI/EI index papers and 10 national patents. She presides over and participates  in a series of key research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, the National High-Tech Research and Development Program and National Science and Technology Pillar Program Project of China.

     

    Yang Dong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China                                                      Yang Dong is currently an Assistant Professor in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Senior Consultant for APEC Port Service Network. His research interests include big data analysis and predicting in waterborne transport, maritime economics & finance, etc. He has published more than 20 SCI/EI index papers. He presides over a series of key research projects on logistics integration for a more sustainable exploitation of natural resources, including the projects supported by the United Nations project, APEC funded project etc.

     

    2. Content-based multimedia analysis

    Summary:

    The goal of this special session is to bring forward recent advancements in content-based multimedia analysis. In addition to multimedia and social media search and retrieval, we wish to highlight related and equally important issues that build on content-based analysis, such as multimedia content management,  user interaction and visualization, media analytics, etc.

    Jinpeng Chen, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China.  Jinpeng Chen received the Ph.D. degree from Beihang University in 2016. He is now an assistant professor and the master’s supervisor of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. His research interests include social network analysis, recommendation system, data mining methodologies, machine learning algorithm and information retrieval technique. He has published more than 20 SCI/EI index papers. In addition, he participates in a series of key research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation and National Key R&D Program of China.

     

    Kaimin Wei, Jinan University, GuangZhou, China.                                                              Kaimin Wei is currently an associate professor and an assistant dean of the collage of information science and technology, Jinan University. He received the Ph.D. degree from Beihang University in 2014. His research interests include mobile computing, social network, cloud computing, internet of things and network security. He presides over and participates in a series of key research projects supported by the national natural science foundation, national key research and development plan, etc.

     

    Zhenyu Wu, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China          Zhenyu Wu is the member of CCF. He received the Ph.D. degree from Beihang University in 2015. He has published more than 10 SCI/EI index papers. His research interests include social network mining, big data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning algorithms, etc. Currently, he presides over a research project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation.

     

    3. Business intelligence and system integration application analysis

    Summary:
    special session introduces business intelligence, system integration and collaborative applications in the energy industry which contribute to better coordination, cost reduction, efficiency improvement and creation of new value. It also brings forward recent advancements and applications in information technology, computer engineering and management sciences including ETL (Extract-Transform-Load), data mining, virtual simulation, cloud computing, 2D diagram, 3D model, big data analysis, control theory, monitoring technology, mobile office, etc.

    Chunping Li, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China   
    Chunping Li received the Ph.D. degree for Computer Science from Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany in 1999.  He focuses his research on general principle and technique of data analytics and mining based on machine learning. He is currently a Professor at the School of Software, Tsinghua University. He has published more than 80 SCI/EI index papers. 
     
     
    Jingren Guo, China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC), China     
    Jingren Guo is currently a Prof. Senior Engineer and deputy manager of Intelligent Engineering Department in CNPEC. His research interests include computer aided engineering, Internet of things, big data analysis and intelligent nuclear power plant, etc. He has published more than 5 national core journal papers. He presided over and participated in a series of State Key R&D Projects of Large Advanced PWR. He has won Science and Technology Progress Awards of National Industry Associations. Now he is leading a project of multi-dimensional digital NPP.
     

    Victor I-chen Chang, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou, China       
    Victor I-chen Chang is currently an Associate Professor and a Supervisor of Ph.D. in Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He received the Ph.D. for Computer Science from University of Southampton, UK. He is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. He presides over and participates in a series of Science and Technology Projects in UK and China. He has published 3 books as sole authors and the editor of 2 books on IoT/Cloud/Security/AI. He won a European Award on Cloud Migration in 2011, IEEE Outstanding Service Award in 2015, Best Papers in 2012 and 2015, the European Award in 2016 and Outstanding Young Scientist Award in 2017.
     
    Zhe Sun, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China   
    Zhe Sun is currently an associate Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor of Tsinghua University. His research interests include control and monitoring of active magnetic levitation system, rotor dynamics, statistical learning theory and its application in engineering, etc. He has published more than 20 SCI/EI index papers and 10 national patents. He presides over and participates in a series of National Science and Technology Major Project of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and National High-tech Research and Development Program of China.
     
    Chao Guo, China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC), China 
    Chao Guo is currently a director in the IT Department of Design Institude, CNPEC. His present professional title is Senior Engineer. His research interests include system integration application, AI, big data analysis, virtual simulation, etc. He has presided over and participated in a series of key projects on implementation of information systems and has won Science and Technology Progress Awards of National Industry Associations, and Enterprise Management Innovation Award. He participates in the work of State Key Laboratory of Nuclear Power Safety Monitoring Technology and Equipment which has published more than 100 SCI/EI index papers and obtained more than 100 national patents within the last five years.
